Bucharest, September 16, 2026 – GapMinder, the venture capital firm investing in technology startups across Romania and Eastern Europe, continues to back Romanian-founded data intelligence company Veridion as part of its $20 million Series A funding round led by Hoxton Ventures, alongside existing investors Underline Ventures, OTB Ventures, Day One Capital and LAUNCHub Ventures. The investment will support Veridion’s next stage of international growth as the company expands its AI-powered platform providing continuously updated intelligence on businesses around the world.

Founded in 2019 by Florin Tufan, Mihai Vinaga and Sorina Vlasceanu, Veridion is building a continuously updated digital replica of the global business landscape. Its technology analyses billions of digital signals from company websites, public registries, regulatory filings, product catalogues, social profiles and trusted news sources to understand not only which companies exist, but how they operate and how they change over time.

Today, Veridion tracks more than 640 million businesses across 249 countries, including legal entities, operating locations, corporate structures and other company attributes. Its technology is used across market intelligence, insurance, third-party risk management, ESG, procurement and supply chain operations, helping organisations identify changes in companies and markets considerably faster than traditional business databases. Veridion says its technology can deliver market intelligence up to 52 times faster than traditional sources while covering more than 30 times more businesses globally.

The new round marks an important milestone for Veridion and continues GapMinder’s long-term support of the company. GapMinder first backed Veridion during its earlier stage of development and is participating again as the company scales internationally. Veridion is part of GapMinder Fund I’s portfolio, alongside companies including Druid.AI, FintechOS, Deepstash, Siena.Cx, TypingDNA, Medicai, Cyscale, SmartDreamers, Machinations, Frisbo and Innoship.io. “When we first invested in Veridion, we believed that the way companies access and use business data was ready for a fundamental change. Since then, Florin, Mihai, Sorina and the team have built an increasingly powerful data infrastructure layer with clear global relevance. Reaching more than 640 million businesses and expanding strongly in the U.S. shows both the scale of the opportunity and the team’s ability to execute internationally. We are excited to continue supporting Veridion in this next stage of growth alongside Hoxton Ventures and the existing investors.”
Cosmin Ochisor, Partner at GapMinder VC

Veridion addresses a fundamental limitation of traditional business intelligence: company information often becomes outdated long before organisations make decisions based on it. Conventional business databases can rely on information refreshed quarterly or annually, while companies themselves are constantly changing — opening and closing locations, launching products, changing suppliers, restructuring operations and responding to economic or geopolitical events.

Veridion’s platform is designed to capture those changes continuously. Its live business graph brings together signals from across the public web and other sources to create an evolving view of the commercial world. This allows financial institutions, insurers, procurement teams and market intelligence providers to identify companies, understand supply chains, assess commercial exposure and detect emerging risks or opportunities using more current information.

The platform is already used by more than 100 organisations, including partners such as Experian. For financial and risk organisations, Veridion can provide additional signals about how companies actually operate, including businesses for which conventional credit or firmographic information may be limited.

“This fresh investment is a major milestone for Veridion and will allow us to accelerate product development, grow our team and expand internationally, helping more organisations understand commercial risk before it affects their business,” says Florin Tufan, Co-founder and CEO of Veridion.

The investment comes as organisations face increasingly volatile commercial environments, from geopolitical disruption and trade tensions to supply-chain shocks and rapidly changing company structures. These dynamics are increasing demand for business intelligence capable of reflecting changes as they happen rather than relying exclusively on historical company records.

Veridion currently employs more than 60 people across Europe and North America, with North America already its largest market. The new capital will be used to accelerate product development, grow the team and expand internationally, with the company doubling down on its U.S. growth.

“Every important decision about a company still depends on data that is usually out of date. Veridion is rebuilding that foundation for the entire economy, and we believe it can become one of the most important data companies in the world,” says Hussein Kanji, Founder of Hoxton Ventures.

With the Series A, Veridion aims to further develop its global business intelligence infrastructure and expand adoption among organisations that need a current, detailed view of companies, markets and commercial relationships. The company’s longer-term ambition is to provide an increasingly comprehensive, continuously updated data foundation for understanding how the global economy operates and changes.
